Jaguars place Clint Session on injured reserve, sign veteran linebacker Kevin Bentley to the roster

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed veteran linebacker Kevin Bentley to a contract and placed linebacker Clint Session on injured reserve with a head injury.

 Bentley, 6-0, 247, is in his 10th NFL season and has spent time with Cleveland, Seattle, Houston and San Diego.  Bentley has played in 132 games with 37 starts since entering the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick of the Browns in the 2002 NFL Draft.  His career totals include 233 tackles, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, one interception and two sacks. 

 A native of North Hills, California, Bentley spent the past three seasons with the Houston Texans where he played in 45 games with 15 starts.  In 2010 he played in 13 games with eight starts and had 32 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.   He played three seasons with the Browns and started a career-high 14 games in 2003 and totaled a career-best 92 tackles.  Bentley was signed by the Seahawks as an unrestricted free agent in 2005 and spent three seasons with the Seahawks.  He was with San Diego for the 2011 preseason before being released on final cuts.

Bentley finished his collegiate career at Northwestern with 390 tackles and six sacks.  He led the team as a senior with 147 tackles and earned All-Big Ten second team honors.  He attended Montclair High School in Montclair, California and lettered in football and basketball. 

 He will wear jersey number 57.

    What?! Wow….that’s a huge blow!

      Agreed. They weren’t really using Session as much as I thought they would for the deal that they gave him, but he’s made some nice tackles this season. I also thought that he had been effective when the Jags utilized him in first and second down situations.

  2. Does this mean he’ll be out for the whole season?
