Some times you gotta ask the tough questions….Getting real with Marcedes Lewis

Let’s be honest–it’s been a rough first half of the season for Marcedes Lewis.   The franchise tight end, who just happens to be coming off of a pro bowl year, has 15 receptions for a total of 174 yards and no touchdowns.  To put that in perspective, let’s compare #89’s numbers to some other elite tight ends from around the league:

1. Antonio Gates, Chargers: 25 rec, 297 yds, 2 td’s

2. Dallas Clark, Colts: 28 rec, 287 yds, 2 td’s

3. Jason Witten, Cowboys: 44 rec, 548 yds, 4 td’s

4. Jermichael Finley, Chargers: 30 rec, 378 yds, 5 td’s

Not looking so hot, huh?  Because of the numbers, plus the fact that Lewis has his deal in place, there has been some speculation about the effort he’s putting in.  Has he settled since he has his money?  I was curious as to Marcedes’ opinion on that theory.  So earlier today, I asked him:   Lewis1

Because Marcedes mentioned not being on the same page with Blaine, I followed up with asking if there was any reason in particular for that.  Here’s what Lewis had to say: Lewis2

I also asked Marcedes’ about where he is mentally following Jacksonville’s  bye week: Lewis3

So what can we look for in the second half of the season and what can new WR Brian Robiskie add to that second half? Lewis4

The Jags next game is this Sunday against the winless Colts up in Indy.
